THAI BUILDS LARGEST AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE CENTER IN SOUTHEAST ASIA
Thai Airways International Public Company Limited has invested in
building one of the region’s largest Aircraft Maintenance Centers which
can accommodate up to three A380 aircraft, at the new Suvarnabhumi
Airport.
Mr. Kobchai Srivilas,
THAI’s Senior Executive Vice President, Corporate Planning and
Information Technology Services Dept., said that one of the special
features for the Aircraft Maintenance Center, which is in the building
process at the Suvarnabhumi Airport, is the large roof framework with
the width of 270 metres of the building and requires only two poles for
support. The process of lifting the 9,500 tons roof to approximately 30
metres high is not usual and is considered very challenging. The
building will be the first in the world to use this high technology
design and equipment. The roof lifting process will be divided into
three main parts, the first and second part weighing approximately 3,500
tons and the third part weighing 2,500 tons. The main equipment for
lifting the roof framework includes 9 sets of lifting tower used towards
installing the lifting equipment with hydrolic system, including
computerized control system. Once the roof framework is lifted to a
specified height, the lifting tower and equipment will be removed and
used to support the lifting of the second and third parts of the roof.
The building process of the Aircraft Maintenance Center requires careful
handling and cooperation from highly skilled engineers and architects to
assure safe and successful results.
THAI’s Aircraft Maintenance Center at
the Suvarnabhumi Airport will be 24,300 square meters in size, which is
the largest in the Southeast Asia region. This will increase THAI’s
capability to serve the company’s aircraft as well as its customer
airlines. THAI’s Aircraft Maintenance Center will be able to accommodate
and provide maintenance services for up to three A380 aircraft at the
same time.

THAI RANKS TOP FIVE IN SKYTRAX AIRLINE OF THE YEAR 2004
Thai Airways International
Public Company Limited announced that the airline ranked among the top
five airlines in this year's Skytrax Airline of the Year survey, the
world's largest passenger survey.
Mr. Kanok Abhiradee, THAI's President,
said that THAI moved up to 5th position in the Skytrax Airline of the
Year survey for 2004, from 8th rank last year, and placed in 2nd
position in Southeast Asia amongst Asia - Regional Best Airlines under
the Regional Best Airline Category. Mr. Abhiradee further stated that
THAI's move into the rank of one of the top five airlines in the world
were due to excellence in cabin crew service, economy cabin legroom, and
inflight catering.
This year's Skytrax airline survey
concluded that passengers traveling economy class are being given a
higher priority to seat comfort due to spacious seat pitch when compared
to other airlines. It was also found that passengers praised THAI's
standards of cabin crew service, such as attitude, general courtesy, and
friendliness, and the airline was commended for its employees'
consistently good standards of service. In first class and economy
class, THAI received high ratings for inflight catering. THAI also
achieved strong ratings for priority and general premium passenger
handling at Bangkok International Airport.
The Skytrax survey involved a poll of
the opinions of 10,821,215 passengers from over 92 nationalities and
measured quality of service inflight and on ground at airports and
passenger lounges. The survey was conducted during a 10 month period
from June 2003 to March 2004.
passasjerer i andre verdensdeler.
kapasiteten, sier Flemming Sonne, salgsdirektør for Thai Airways i
Skandinavia.
Klikk her for å se endring
i klassene.
Konseptet kommer kun til å finnes mellom
Skandinavia-Bangkok. På THAI´s øvrige flyruter beholdes eksisterende
konsept med Royal First Class og Royal Executive Business Class samt
Economy Class.
